One fine day, after a trekking training in Republic Polytechnic, my good friend (now my travel buddy) Cloud asked me, ” Hey bro, you wanna do a trip with me?”
I sat forward and asked with curiosity,”Where to bro?”
He said,” EUROPE!!!, Western Europe!!!”
I scratched my chin, eyes turning to the top right hand corner and as if I was counting my money or number of days of my holiday or something, I said, “YES. Let’s do that. So how much are we talking about here…”
And so the conversation dragged on and sooner or later, we involved another friend of mine, Khairuzamman.
3 Dudes, 8 Countries, 1 Month, S$5K. Here we come!!!
A cold start. Photo taken infront of a church with Khai in the middle and cloud on the right. BASILIQUE DU SACRE-CŒUR DE MONTMARTRE. This was the church just behind our hostel. The same church that we went and i was bored and sitting on the train. So sketched this. 🙂 Well, we arrived at the Eiffel from the backside and found out that it is 119 years of age when we visited. Did not go up due to the long queue and that there are 1665 stairs steps up to the top of the Eiffel Tower. The Château de Versailles, which has been on UNESCO’s World Heritage List for 30 years, is one of the most beautiful achievements of 18th-century French art. Khai and I managed to get in for free as admission for 18 and below is free. Cloud also sneaked in free. Whooo!! Close shave... Admire a selection of masterpieces including the Venus de Milo, the Wedding Feast at Cana, the Mona Lisa, the Raft of the Medusa, and the Galerie d’Apollon as you discover the scale and splendor of the Louvre whose collections span the centuries from ancient to modern times and range from archaeology and architecture to painting and sculpture. Here we are with a bagel or two for lunch. Paid 4 Euros for the entry fee. Managed to catch a picture of Mona Lisa but i guessed it was probably not the real thing. A very big place to explore and you could spend about a day just exploring the area.
Finally, done with Paris. Will train down to Lisbon, Portugal next. 🙂
I'm an aspiring climber from the tiny island of Singapore looking constantly at different places of the world, looking for places to exploit and fill up my adventure gauge which is always hanging in the balance.
I graduated from Republic Polytechnic with a Diploma in Outdoor And Adventure Learning and I believe that I'm a true advocate of the outdoors.
The first trip that I did was to Mount Ophir, standing at 1276 metres in Johor Bahru. The feeling of being immersed within nature and actually climbing to the top was just rejuvenating. From then since, I've climbed a total of 41 mountains around the world, highest being Mount Everest South Summit at 8700m and two 7000m peaks called Lenin Peak and Peak Korzhenescaya.
Currently, I'm managing sales and marketing at a rock-climbing company and forming my own adventure company, JTrace, focusing on adventure trips consultation, training clients for their own Everest, corporate team building, inspirational speaking sessions and brand ambassadorship.
