Meet Jeremy Tong

Jeremy Tong

Born and raised in Singapore, Jeremy Tong has spent the past two decades pursuing one belief: No Dream Too Big. What began as a fascination with the world’s highest mountains has evolved into a career dedicated to helping others discover what they are capable of—through adventure, education and leadership.

Today, Jeremy is recognised as one of Singapore’s leading high-altitude mountaineers, expedition leaders and outdoor educators. He is the youngest Singaporean to climb Mount Everest twice, has successfully climbed six of the Seven Summits, and has led and mentored hundreds of individuals on expeditions ranging from beginner trekking adventures to technical mountaineering objectives across Asia, Europe, Africa and North America.

The Beginning

Where the dream began

Jeremy’s passion for the outdoors began long before he stepped onto a glacier or climbed above 8,000 metres. Growing up in one of the world’s most urbanised cities, he discovered that adventure was not defined by geography but by curiosity, resilience and a willingness to embrace the unknown.

In 2005, he first learnt about the Seven Summits—the highest mountain on each continent. That moment sparked a dream that would shape the next two decades of his life. Rather than chasing summits alone, Jeremy committed himself to building the knowledge, technical skills and leadership required to safely operate in some of the world’s most demanding mountain environments.

The Foundation of Leadership

Leadership through service

Jeremy’s leadership journey began during his two years of National Service with the Singapore Armed Forces, where he served as a Military Infantry Officer. Following his commissioning, he was involved in the training and development of Reconnaissance Scouts within the Military Intelligence formation, helping prepare soldiers for demanding operations that required discipline, situational awareness and sound decision-making under pressure.
The experience laid a strong foundation for his leadership philosophy and instilled values that continue to shape his approach to expedition leadership today—careful planning, calm decision-making, teamwork and the responsibility of leading others safely through uncertain and challenging environments.
Educating Through Adventure

Educator turned expedition leader

Building upon his military experience, Jeremy pursued a career in experiential learning and outdoor education. With formal qualifications in Outdoor and Adventure Learning and Sports Science, he has spent more than a decade designing and leading expeditions, leadership programmes and outdoor learning experiences for schools, organisations and aspiring mountaineers.

His expertise extends beyond climbing mountains. Over the years, he has developed extensive experience in expedition planning, wilderness risk management, technical rescue, leadership development and outdoor instruction, believing that the greatest lessons learned in the mountains can be applied directly to everyday life.

This philosophy eventually led to the founding of JTRACE, an adventure company dedicated to creating safe, meaningful and transformative outdoor experiences. Through expeditions, technical training, mountain consulting and leadership programmes, Jeremy and his team have helped hundreds of individuals build the confidence and skills to pursue increasingly ambitious mountain goals.

The Everest Journey

Lessons from EVEREST

Jeremy's Journey

Jeremy's journey has never been defined solely by success. His first attempt on Mount Everest in 2017 ended just below the summit when deteriorating conditions forced him to turn back at approximately 8,700 metres.

The Greatest Lesson

Although the summit remained out of reach, the experience reinforced one of the most important principles in mountaineering: knowing when to walk away is often the greatest display of strength.

Greater Experience

Two years later, Jeremy returned to Everest with greater experience, patience and perspective, ready to face the mountain once again.

Summit Success

On 22 May 2019, Jeremy successfully reached the summit of the world's highest mountain, becoming the youngest Singaporean to climb Mount Everest twice.

The Cost of the Climb

During the expedition, he sustained frostbite to both ears, a lasting reminder of the harsh realities of high-altitude climbing and the commitment required to achieve ambitious goals.

Dare to Climb

These experiences continue to shape Jeremy's personal philosophy: Dare to Climb—the belief that courage is not the absence of fear, but the willingness to keep moving forward with preparation, humility and purpose.

Inspiring Extraordinary Growth

Building the EVEREST Mindset

Beyond mountaineering, Jeremy is passionate about helping others unlock their own potential. Through his keynote presentations, leadership programmes and mountain mentorship, he shares practical lessons from the world’s highest peaks that apply equally to business, education and everyday life.

His signature keynote, Building the EVEREST Mindset, explores resilience, leadership, decision-making under pressure and the importance of embracing setbacks as opportunities for growth. Whether speaking to students, corporate leaders or aspiring mountaineers, Jeremy encourages audiences to pursue meaningful challenges with confidence, preparation and perseverance.

The Climb Continues

Looking ahead

Jeremy’s current focus is completing the Seven Summits challenge, with Aconcagua remaining as the final mountain in a journey spanning more than two decades. Alongside this, he continues to expand JTRACE, mentor the next generation of climbers, deliver leadership programmes and share authentic stories from the mountains through authorship, media, documentary projects and educational initiatives.
For Jeremy, mountaineering has never been about standing on summits alone. It is about the people met along the journey, the lessons learned through adversity and the opportunity to inspire others to pursue goals that once seemed impossible.
Because at the heart of every expedition is a simple belief that continues to guide his work:

No Dream Too Big.
