Mount Kosciuszko -2228m (2017)

Mount Kosciuszko is Australia’s highest mountain. It is sometimes included as one of the Seven Summits, which are the highest mountain peaks on each continent.

This climb was done in the summer period of 2017 and surprisingly, it was cold and windy. I brought a couple of friends along to accompany me and it was an international team comprising of a Filipino (Phil), South Korean (Harim) and Australian (Benedict). This team was a very fit team and I thoroughly enjoyed the full trek of this mountain because we climbed up from Tredbo itself and did not take the ski lift until we headed down after the summit.

The climb up from the town to the summit and to the ski lift only took us about 7 hours plus. We were the only people on the mountain that morning.

Overall, this trip was a very doable and easy trek for anyone who is aiming to get started in trekking and hiking. The drive from Canberra was easily done too.

On a sidenote: JTRACE runs trips to climb Mount Kosciuszko in Dec period. Do check in with them if you are keen to climb your first of the 7 Summits!
